About Me

My photo
Muses have been haunting me since I was 7-years-old. Unfortunately, in 21 years, I have not yet learned to speak or interpret their language. Many times, to my regret, I ignore them. Other times I rage at them. "I want my life back!" I scream. Even though, I cannot yet understand them, they all too well understand me. When they've had enough of being ignored, they leave me. Sometimes it is years before they come back. That is when I am most miserable.

Turning a Pebble into a Pearl

  1. Hi, Michelle, thanks for your comment, I'm pleased to hear that we have similar views on KKK exhibition)
The story you're describing here is really fascinating. Every time I read or hear about people who found the way to live or even to be happy in such sad circumstances, I'm trying unconsciously to put myself in that person's shoes.
I adore people who are that strong.
By the way, haven't you seen last year Oscar-winning "Diving Bell and Butterfly"? I think you might found it very interesting because it tells kind of similar story. It's about an editor of French glossy magazine who became captured in bed after car accident. He was totally immobilized, and the only thing he could do was to blink with his left eye. However, he wrote the book of memoirs...

  2. Michelle, this article was very inspirational and I feel it is very relevent to people's lives today. Sometimes it is rather easy to focus on the things you cannot do rather than the things you can do. I can relate to Headrick in the sense that he got caught up on the things he could not manage to do at the time.

I also found it refreshing that the love of his life - his wife - was the one to show him that if he just took the time to slow down and appreciate what he had that he coul then make the most of his life. The fact that he is now recovering is also a very beautiful thing.

I agree with you that this article is quite humbling. Pain and suffering are both very hard things to deal with and people who find unique ways to overcome them are very inspirational.
